Wider than it is tall, with a small stepped flange running round the waist that catches the light and divides the cup in two: carved white above, dark glaze below.

The flowers here are drawn larger and looser than on the smaller pieces — a few big lilies opened right across the wall, with the dark clay showing between them.

The interior is dark glossy glaze, the handle a round loop. Zhao Ruyan is signed on the base.

Material
Speckled stoneware, blended in the studio from Yixing ore with kaolin, feldspar, quartz and grog. Fired to 1260 °C.
Care
Hand wash only — warm water, a soft sponge, a soft brush for the carved lines. Microwave and fridge safe. Not for the dishwasher: the heat and detergent dull the carved surface over time.

Thrown, carved and finished by Zhao Ruyan in Yixing.
